Day 13 - 76.34 Miles
Springfield, KY.
We left Berea on some very flat roads, but our excitement that we had reached "the flatlands" came a little too soon, as our day turned into a grueling 75 mile up and down scorcher on the "hottest day of the year" as the quickee-mart lady promised us it would be. We arrived at our campsite which turned out to be a public park that was hosting a multi-county, holiday weekend, little-league tournament. While our tent might have caught a fly ball, and it was a great snap-shot of America, we were content to move down the road to the Day's Inn, which happened to have a pool (this doesn't count as our week three indulgence!). Unfortunately, the pool was the 9-10 year old Bardstown baseball team's territory - they spit at us, squirted us with squirt guns, cannonballed on our heads, and generally caused us to not be able to stretch and relax. Austin claims he will retire from the classroom after that experience.

July 5 - Happy Birthday, Jon, from Aix-en-Provence! We're having lunch at Pizza Capri in your honor.
We have a great view of la Ste Victoire from our hotel room. Tony has fond memories of climbing it with you the last time you were in Aix.
If the heat's anywhere near the temperatures here, you guys must be supermen to bike so far. (But I guess we already knew that).
Until soon,
Andrea & Tony

Hi guys. I was out of state on business for a few days and am catching up on your travels. Aust, the TSTI team asks for you (and misses you on the field). I'm glad I can now say you have made it to another state. We swept our double header this weekend and are in first place tied with you know who! Your travel sounds exhausting, but I'm impressed by the nice people you have written about.
Jack,
Happy Birthday! It sounds like you guys are having a great time out there. I'm enjoying reading the blogs, they are hilarious. Did you really post a link to a math award you won? That might be just as funny. Hopefully we'll see you at the lake sometime at the end of the summer.
